Marcel headshot

Marcel Owino

Founder of Camili Safaris

After spending more than a decade in the United States, pursuing his university studies, Marcel returned to his home country of Kenya to work for an international development organization. On weekends, Marcel would organize short day trips and invite colleagues to join. Separately, colleagues would seek advice on booking affordable safaris for visiting family and friends. This advisory role evolved into the creation of Camili Safaris Ltd.

Driven by the mission of making safaris more accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget, Marcel has spent many years tailoring both private and small-groups scheduled safaris throughout East and Southern Africa. Marcel believes that safaris should be available to everyone and that sustainable conservation goes in tandem with access. Marcel spends months traveling and vetting all Camili safaris destinations and camps. In fact, Marcel will not send guests to camps that he has not spent time in as a guest.

Diana Koech

Operations manager

Growing up in the great rift valley, near Lake Baringo and Bogoria, Diana understood the importance of tourism to Kenya at a very young age. Diana’s love for her job is immediately apparent because she grew up going on safari and being surrounded by wildlife. She began working for Camili safaris as a dedicated travel planner. However, her role quickly evolved into general planning, coordination, and execution to ensure seamless operations at Camili Safaris. Diana is always ready, willing and able to jump into action, and with a kindness to match.
