Overview

This is the perfect safari for lovers of elephants. We’ll start your safari by spending a day in Nairobi and exploring the city. We will head to Amboseli where you will experience large herds of elephants and a majestic view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Later, we will cross into the nearby Kibwezi Forest where we will have exclusive access to visit orphaned elephants at the reintegration unit. We will cross the main Nairobi/Mombasa highway and enter the northern part of Tsavo East where you will enjoy exclusive access to the elephants at Ithumba relocation unit and gain firsthand knowledge of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trusts’ projects. This tour will end in Watamu beach where you will spend the last three days resting and relaxing.

Day 1:

Travel Day

Catch your flight to your safari starting point in Nairobi, Kenya

Days 2 & 3:

Arrival in Nairobi, Kenya

Welcome to Kenya, the start of your safari experience! Your Camili safari guide will pick you up from the international airport and transfer you to your hotel, which will be either Tribe Hotel or Hemingways Nairobi.

Days 4 & 5:

Amboseli

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up and drive you to Amboseli. We will proceed directly to a morning game drive searching for elephant herds and other large mammals. Look out for the majestic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro right across the border. Later, we will arrive at our accommodation for lunch and some rest. Accommodation will be at Tawi Lodge. We will have more game drives in the evening and the following day.

Days 6 & 7:

Umani Springs

After breakfast, we will drive across into Umani Springs, located in the Kibwezi forest. You will have exclusive access to orphaned elephants learning how to live in the wild again. You’ll meet the elephant caregivers and spend time with the anti-poaching units. Accommodation will be at Umani Springs Luxury Bush House.

Days 8, 9 & 10:

Tsavo East National Park (Ithumba)

We will cross the main Nairobi/Mombasa highway and enter the northern part of Tsavo East National Park. As one of the oldest and largest parks in the country, Tsavo East is home to an abundance of wildlife, including the Big Five. You will meet several dozen orphaned elephants at the Ithumba relocation unit and spend the next three days with the orphaned elephants and their caregivers. Accommodation in Tsavo East will be at Ithumba camp.

Days 11, 12 & 13:

Watamu Beach

We will drive to Watamu Beach where you will stay at Hemingways Watamu while you relax and enjoy the beautiful beach.

Day 14:

Nairobi

After checking out, you will be transferred to Malindi airport where you will catch a flight to Nairobi to connect to your flight home.
