In this epic land and air safari, you will get to experience some of the wildest places in Tanzania. We’ll begin your safari in Arusha and proceed to Tarangire, home to a high density of wildlife. We’ll fly to Katavi National Park and enjoy game drives in one of the most remote places in East Africa. Later, we’ll fly to Mahale where you will have the rare experience of tracking chimpanzees. We will end your safari in the scenic and secluded Ruaha National Park where you will enjoy daily game drives and a walking safari.

Day 1:

Travel Day

Catch your flight to your safari starting point in Arusha, Tanzania

Day 2:

Arrival in Arusha, Tanzania

Welcome to Tanzania, the start of your safari experience. A Camili safari guide will pick you up from the international airport and transfer you to your hotel. Your accommodation will be at either Gran Melia Arusha or Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge.

Days 3 & 4:

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, we will fly to Tarangire, arriving in time for lunch and some rest. We’ll spend the next two days searching for red elephants and the famous “upside down” baobab trees. Accommodation will be at either Sanctuary Swala Camp or Tarangire Treetops by Elewana.

Days 5, 6 & 7:

Katavi National Park

We will have an early morning game drive in Tarangire followed by breakfast. Later, we will board a bush plane and fly to Katavi National Park, one of the most remote and wild safari destinations in East Africa. We will spend the next three days experiencing all that Katavi has to offer by going on longer game drives and walking safaris escorted by an armed ranger. Accommodation will be at either Katavi Wildlife Camp or Chada Katavi.

Days 8, 9 & 10:

Mahale Mountains National Park

This morning we will fly to Mahale National Park, nestled along the shores of Lake Tanganyika. We will spend the next three days exploring this captivating park, with forested mountains rising dramatically from the shores of Lake Tanganyika. Renowned for its population of chimpanzees, Mahale is one of the best places to observe these primates in their natural habitat. Other primates include the red colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and blue monkeys. We will spend some time enjoying the beautiful beaches of Lake Tanganyika, including taking boat rides along the lake. Other activities will include fishing and kayaking along Lake Tanganyika. Accommodation will be at Greystoke Mahale.

Days 11, 12 & 13:

Ruaha National Park

This morning we will check out after breakfast and board a bush plane to Ruaha National Park, arriving in time for lunch and some afternoon rest. Ruaha is one of Tanzania’s largest parks and home to a wide variety of wildlife, including large herds of elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and zebras. We will spend the next three days exploring the park on extended game drives, walking safaris with an escorted armed ranger, and night safaris. Accommodation will be at either Ikuka Safari Camp or Jabali Ridge.

Day 14:

Arusha

This morning, we will enjoy the last moments in Ruaha, have breakfast, then check out and fly to Arusha where you will catch your flight home.
