Itinerary

Day 1:

Travel Day

Catch your flight to your safari starting point in Nairobi, Kenya

Days 2 & 3:

Taita Hills (Taita Hills Sanctuary and Lumo Conservancy)

Welcome to Kenya, the start of your safari experience! Your Camili safari guide will pick you up from the international airport and transfer you to your hotel, which will be either Tribe Hotel or Hemingways Nairobi.

On day 3, we will do an excursion of Nairobi city and visit The Elephant Orphanage, Giraffe Center, and Karura Forest. We will then head back to the hotel for some rest and relaxation.

Days 4 & 5:

Amboseli National Park, Kenya

We will catch an early morning flight to Amboseli. Look out for the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa at 19,340 feet (5,895 meters). We will head directly out on a game drive and explore the park until midday, when we will check into the hotel. Accommodation in Amboseli will be at either Tawi Lodge or Tortilis Camp. We will spend the next two days exploring the park with daily morning and evening game drives. We may encounter large herds of elephant families. Watch out for hyena, lions, and cheetahs that call Amboseli home.

Day 6:

Tarangire National Park, Tanzania

After breakfast, we will cross the border via the Namanga border post and drive onwards to Arusha where we will stop for lunch. Later we will fly to Tarangire National Park, arriving in time for an evening game drive. Accommodation will be at either Sanctuary Swala Camp or Tarangire Treetops by Elewana.

Days 7 & 8:

Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

We will have an early morning game drive in Tarangire followed by breakfast. Later we will check out of our accommodation and drive onwards to the Ngorongoro crater. Also known as the Garden of Eden, the crater is one of the largest calderas in the world, gifted with varying ecosystems and a large concentration of animals and birds. We will do a longer game drive, accompanied by a picnic lunch inside the crater. Watch out for flamingoes, black-mane lions, cheetahs, and rhinos. Accommodation will be at either andBeyond Ngorongoro or The Plantation Lodge.

Days 9 & 10:

The Serengeti, Tanzania

We will head out after breakfast towards the Serengeti plains. We will stop by Olduvai Gorge, a rich archeological site where evidence of the first humans was discovered. The Serengeti is a sight to behold. Experience the great migration unfold as a million wildebeest, gazelle, and zebra follow the rain patterns in search of greener pastures. Accommodation will be at either Mwiba Lodge or The Four Seasons Serengeti.

Days 11, 12 & 13:

Masai Mara, Kenya

This morning we will cross the border back into Kenya. We will fly from the Serengeti to the Mara, arriving in time for lunch and some rest. We will explore the Mara plains and finish the day with a sundowner. Accommodation will be at either Mara Plains Camp, Kichwa Tembo, or Little Governors Camp. We will spend the next three days exploring the park on game drives, going on a hot air balloon ride, visiting a Masai village,and enjoying a fabulous bush dinner.

Day 14:

Nairobi, Kenya

This morning we will go for our last game drive. Later we will have breakfast, check out of our accommodation, and catch our short flight to Nairobi. You will have a day room in Nairobi at either Tribe Hotel or Hemingways Nairobi where you can rest and relax until it is time to catch your late evening or night flights back home. There will also be time for some shopping and a last dinner before flying home.

One of the highlights of our family trip to Kenya was, without a doubt, our visit to the Maasai Mara. Camili Safaris did a stellar job! Communication prior to the trip was clear and smooth and extra arrangements were made to ensure the best experience for everyone, including my nephew (one and half years old at the time).
